Share the Joy of the Gospel - As A Catechist!
At St. Brendan’s we are blessed with a dedicated group of volunteer catechists for our Faith Formation program, and we are seeking more Ministers to share their love of Christ and the Catholic Faith.
Do you have a heart for working with children – particularly grades 1-6? Are you able to share your love of Jesus with enthusiasm and joy? Then God may be calling YOU to be catechist!
Curriculum
The Curriculum we use in the majority of the Faith Formation classes is centered around the weekly Gospel. The Pflaum Gospel Weeklies. (www.gospelweeklies.com) are easy to teach and come with a comprehensive catechist guide and a variety of online support tools.
Safe Environment For Children
A requirement for volunteering to work with children at St. Brendan Parish is a LiveScan Fingerprint process and a 1-hour online course on Child Safety- "Protecting God's Children". The parish may be able to reimburse the fee for LiveScan - especially if you have already done fingerprinting through another venue. The Archdiocese requires its own LiveScan process.
Learn More
No special background is needed, and training is offered through the parish and Archdiocese. Summer Catechist Preparation Classes are a great way to learn about what it means to be a Catechist, and to brush up on any Catholic terminology and concepts. Signup is directly through the San Francisco Archdiocese Office of Faith Formation: 415-614-5650.
