Dear Visitors to the St. Brendan Parish Website:
Two disciples were walking from Jerusalem to a small town called Emmaus a few days after Jesus’ death on the cross. They were discussing the event, when a stranger joined them on the way. On reaching Emmaus, they invited the stranger to join them for the evening meal. When he broke the bread, “their eyes were opened,” and they recognized him as Jesus Christ raised from the dead.
The disciples’ journey began in fear. They fled from Jerusalem to escape the brutality and rejection of the cross. But when they encountered Christ in the stranger who shared a meal with them, the disciples found the courage to return to Jerusalem. In the connection that they experienced in Christ and through one another during that simple meal, they were able to move away from isolation and fear and return to the community of disciples waiting for them in Jerusalem.
This Easter seaon, join our cozy community for worship and encounter once again Christ in the breaking of the bread and among the loving people of St. Brendan Church.
