As God’s stewards, we have solid, firm knowledge of good and evil, and making choices, whether it’s to respect beautiful but significant trees in the garden or not, like Adam and Eve, or the many choices, no matter how big or small, that we are faced with on a daily basis (Genesis 2:9).
Our lives are so busy, and yet we are called to serve our Lord. It can be so difficult, daunting even, to keep on keeping on, from day to day. We can’t help focusing on our families or ourselves. Maybe we feel we just don’t have the time or motivation to serve. Couldn’t we just do it sometime later on? How do we continue serving, and not delay, ignore, or just surrender to what we think we need to do in the moment?
Serving others is our calling as Christians and stewards. Thankfully, we have God to whom we can pray, beseech, and be confident in knowing that he will sustain us. As the Psalmist says this week, we can let God enfold and envelope us in his knowledge, and so he will sustain a willing spirit in all of us (Psalm 51:13-14). Saint Paul also reminds us that, “just as through one transgression condemnation came upon all, so, through . . . the obedience of the one, the many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:18-19).
We can help others become whole, righteous, and satisfied through our service and obedience. Let us also remember the power of our prayers to ask for God’s guidance and support. With God to help us and give us strength, there is much we can accomplish. Knowing this, we can be confident and move forward. We can help save others, and ourselves, at the same time.
