Religious Education and Sacramental Preparation

Baptism Preparation

St. Brendan Parish is always blessed when we welcome young new members into the faith community! The baptismal preparation process ensures that parents and godparents can fully participate in this celebration by reviewing the rite of baptism, the results of the sacrament, and the responsibility of those who wish to bring  a child to faith.

Baptismal Preparation Class:
The preparation class for parents and godparents is usually held on the last Sunday of each month, from 2:00 - 3:30. Prior registration is required.

Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)

The RCIA is the process by which the Catholic Community welcomes new members (adults and children over 7). It has its roots in the early centuries of the Church. The RCIA process focuses on coming together around Scripture to listen, pray, and share with each other. Information on Catholic teaching, doctrine and practices completes the process of learning about the Catholic way of life. RCIA is for the unbaptized, those baptized in another faith, and baptized Catholics seeking the Sacraments of Eucharist and Confirmation. Sessions are also open to anyone wishing to grow in their understanding of their Catholic faith.

Marriage Preparation

Marriage Preparation Ministry helps to prepare engaged couples (up to 2-3 couples in each group) wanting to marry at St. Brendan. We explore values in married life, Church and God, and Sacraments. The program is free (compared to a fee through other Catholic organizations). It's a casual and relaxed atmosphere, where engaged couples can get to know other engaged couples and speak with a married couple in the parish to discuss the spiritual and Catholic aspects of marriage.

Schedule:
Sessions are usually held quarterly in groups. Meeting times are flexible and arranged with the group leaders to accommodate couple's schedules. The goal is to meet 3 different times at the Alvarez hone, joined by a priest on 3rd session to talk about Church and God.
